Part 1
In 2015, the diagnosis of Uterine Leiomyosarcoma Cancer given to our co-founder’s sister Diane,
created the need for LWMi to help raise awareness and funding. LWMi accepted the charge and
hosted its first Sarcoma Cancer fundraising event where Diane was present just 7 months after
being diagnosed. In 2016, at the close of our second decade, Sarcoma Cancer, had shifted our
focus in a significant way.
Our August 2016 fundraising event took place in Diane’s absence. She passed just 3 months prior
living only 16 months from diagnosis to her death.
